Is there anyway to tell how far away you are to your homestead? I fast traveled to Boston, wandered about and found some rare items I absolutely have to keep... and now I've been walking literally hours real time (at least 4) to get back. Is there no way to tell how far away I am? I keep hoping I'm getting close, but if I have to walk for several hours more real time I'm going to just give up.

Is your finds more worth than your home? If so, make new home and kee your stuff. Or you could use the stuff you found if its inspirationals.

I walked to Boston, found loads of stuff on the way and then nearly got killed as I got there, managed to get into town and teleported home. If you've walked for 4 hours you're probably getting there. Admittedly I was running and eating mushrooms which you can't do any more but it only took me 2 hrs.

Well after four hours of walking real time I just got bit by a snake and died... I'm never going to get any money to buy nails...

Yeah, it's too bad you lost all those items, but that snake did save you a long walk.

So there's no map or navigation skill to let you know how far away things are?

There are maps, but you'd have to locate yourself first for it to be of use:

Of course you can still do it with mushrooms. You just loose 0.1 in max humours...

You just have to find few indian feather (use foraging mode while you walk). Ok you don't find them all the time, but one day you will find 3 in one hour time. ^^

Or try to sell Hay to other players.

If you are on plymouth PM me, I will trade hay for nails.

Why not? Because you get a debuff that lowers your overall humors by .1% for 5 minutes? Even if you pig out on enough toadstools to significantly decrease your humors so that you'll be better off walking instead of running, you still made better time than walking only.
