when you dig the terrain texture gets changed to the dirt texture... which is ugly. Does the default terrain texture come back at any point? or are there ways to "replant"?

It does, but it takes a damn long time. IIRC, it grows from the outside in, and it grows based on decay ticks (which we all know to be random and take FOREVER)

Excellent... Thanks guys!
I've got a couple of spots of grass in the middle of the dug out area where it was actually flat and didn't need to be dug, so I'll keep an eye on them to see if they spread out to check on the outside in vs general spread.
hmm... i wonder if paving around an area of dirt will shield the "dirt" from the regrowth... I've got a little area where i dump trees, logs and stone boulders and stuff, might try it out and see if i can keep that as dirt for a "dumping ground" area.

It does.
Is this still true? I am seeing my surrounding paving being partially eaten away by grass encroachement. Will fences prevent the encroachement?

I think if you pave around an area, and then turn all the tiles to dirt within the paved area then it wont turn back into grass. If there is even one speck of grass in the area that you wish to remain dirt, the whole area will slowly decay back into grass. This is just from my own observations, so I could be wrong.

In my case, the paving tiles are being partially eaten away by grassland outside the surrounded area, the inside area is all dirt. I guess my question is whether I am seeing decay of the pavement or what happens when dirt outside the paving area decays back to grass?

Pavement doesn't decay. If you are talking about the leafy ground in the forest, those kind of tiles will partially cover any adjacent tiles including pavement.

Ok, thanks. I guess I will have the yard maintence guy come in once a week to clean that up by repaving.
