Wanted: Proper how to on mushroom detox or confirm on bugs

I'm unsure if the process is extremely buggy, or if it is just the lack of documentation on how this process works, but it's still iffy for me on whether or not the mushrooms actually detox.

Last I read it was:
1. Start a fresh fire
2. Place copper pot over fresh fire
3. Let it be for 15-30 minutes (no animation or other sign to say it is ready) Heat reaches from 0 to about 30 when it's ready to boil mushrooms.
4. Place mushrooms.
5. Cross fingers and check in 5-10 minutes to see if ticker next to mushrooms has started.

Possible bugs:
1. Pot over existing fire may not work.
2. If the fire runs out of fuel and you re-fuel it while it still has heat, the pot seems to no longer work on this fire.
3. The above seems to still be the case even if re-fueled while the fire still has 100% heat.

Wanted:
1. Confirmation of above bugs or work-arounds.
2. Icons that show the difference between a boiled and non-boiled mushroom.

Thanks ahead of time for work-arounds, or confirmation of these bugs.
If the developers read this and apply action: thanks for icons and or fixes to bugs. Or perhaps simply a more comprehensive guide to boiling mushrooms.

That must be the reason i have been unable to get this to work before I had read another post about having to have the fresh fire but still was unable to detox them. Being very carefull to only put in 10 branches tonight i was finally able to detox a pot of mushrooms.

Think I read something in the most recent update from another user about new icons for the boiled shrooms. I can't confirm myself, so maybe someone else will.

Wait, what? Does that mean I need to destroy the fire, and rebuild it? Or just take off the pot and place it back?

Why are you guys doing this in the first place? Does it matter if the mushroom pies are poisoned when you glutton on them?

Quote from the 1UP update:
Things crafted from unboiled mushrooms will be as poisonous as the mushrooms themselves are natively. The property of being poisonous is thus inherited through crafting steps.

Secondly, I'm a noob. I don't even have the skills or previous skills needed to bake yet. So I can't make mushroom pies yet. I'm attempting to use Witch's Hats as another source of food rather than eating a billion chestnuts (which the chestnuts are oddly not that numerous where I setup shop unlike some other areas on the map ... mushrooms are though ... hence the attempt at figuring out boiling.)

I dunno. Test new game content maybe?

For a great early game food, try just cooking crickets or making lumberjack frikadels (spelling?) from rabbits. If you are having trouble getting at them, run up to them and stomp. Also, you could go fishing and do the various fish recipes.

Waxing toadstools have almost no actual effect, so enjoy. No matter how many I eat in a row, the effect is so small I don't even notice. Then, it goes away by the time I remember to check out what my bile levels actually were.

Of course, there are always berries on a straw.

I haven't tried that yet. Thanks for the suggestion. I just got stomp recently and have been using it and shallow water to defend my lands against snakes. As for berries on the straw, they just aren't as numerous as the mushrooms. I have been using the Waxing shrooms though since someone pointed out how small of an affect they have on you. I've tested fishing due to having to flatten land and picking up so many worms. Seems the best recipe I currently have access to is sushi, but seaweed isn't plentiful where I am. Even with the hassle of boiling, Witch's Hat is still far more efficient and nicer of a package of easy food consumption to bounce back from studying or use of phelm. The only catch has been for me to not allow the fire and pot to bug out after starting it.

Edit: Btw, thank you developers for adding "Boil'd" to the shrooms detail text after they've been boiled. So glad I can tell if the fire and pot has been working or not. :)

Head back to Boston. On every server I've checked, there's a stretch of beach with more than a few seaweed every time you go by.
