on clothes, deer, and clay

Hi,

I've been in the beta for a while now, just came back after not playing for a while.
Now I've done my share of playing, mostly with the wiki on the side, but I still got a few questions.

1: Could anyone explain the stuff with clothes (and especially artificer slots), how can I use them to my advantage?
2: How much humours are advised before you take on a deer? (at 20 blood, 18 YB at the moment)
3: Does the concentration of milk of lime matter, when using it in a clay through?

Thanks for all the help!

1)Slotting items gives you some bonuses (if you hover your mouse over the items you can see what the bonus is). High end artifacts can give you a big boost in attack/defence.

A great thread about slotting

2) Around 30 is ok. You could try even with 20 but deers can charge you for 10dmg so it's risky. Use guard,it reduces the dmg in half.

3) By concentration you mean putting a 2nd lime in the backet of water? As far as i know,no it doesn't matter. What matter's a little is the purity of the lime you put in. It will affect the purity of the milk of lime.

Lime got 0 influence over clay through. Clay purity is only based on water purity.

Well it's not 0 but i agree it's small. My 7% water with 2% lime went to 6% milk of lime. It doesn't look big,but with the current system every decimal counts:P

Not entirely true. Lime influence the purity of milk but not by much. Still if you use lime that is very poor in you water main element you can get some purity drop in you milk and thus your clay.

Wierd. Used 43.xx mercury water (6%) and 2% salt lime (had 30.xx mercury). Clay was 43.xx mercury still(6%).

My opinion for new characters who are skilled (i.e. know how to stomp & thrust) is that 20 blood/ybile is safe to start attacking deer. It'll be difficult if you're still getting to grips with the combat, though. Deer do 5 blood damage with their charge attack (why would you ever NOT have guard on at that blood level?) so even with your current blood you can take quite some hits before dieing.

When you make clay, water purity count for 99% and lime for 1%. So lime has an impact yes, but very very small.

It has been said but it's very important use guard when you fight a deer. I'm 30 YB, I killed like ten deers without using guard and without any problem, until one day, a deer decided to go berserk and hit me 3 times in 2 seconds and killed me...
Now I use guard all the time and they hardly remove me 10 blood.

If you stick close to the deer it won't charge.
