I saw them alot in coniferous forest.
They dont spawn in Autumnal that is for sure.
Wiki says they also spawn in badlands and marsh though I dont spend much time in those biomes

I've only seen them in the really dark forest biome, whatever it's called, and the large marsh biomes.
Since I don't live near either, I gave in and just bought my turkeys.

If you mean that brown floored forest that is Woodland where I was.
I do see some for sale, but as yet have no place for a coop so they would die shortly - also have no idea what they eat - heck I only want feathers for digging charms

The brown floored forest is coniferous and that's one of the biomes turkeys spawn in. You can feed them quite a lot of stuff, from foraged foods to seeds.

Coniferous is pine trees, and often has cliffs or hills, Woodland is flat with many witchhats - according to the wiki/

Yeah, you're right. Must have been thinking of grassland when I read woodland.

a full turkey coop eats you out of house and home. Make sure you have a large enough farming operation per coop. (like 4-6 fields)
roasted turkey has 10,10,5,5 heal ...which is near higher purity cabbage leaves. Because of the sheer numbers of turkey cuts one roasts, some gelatinous lard is a nice addition here.
