Using 3 cotton cloths only. Each item was in the tube long enough for 3 changes.. I think this took about 6 hours total. Every change diminished the highest element in all my experiments, but after 11 events I got a purity increase of 4%!
First slot:
Original: 3.42/78.55/15.15/2.90/52%
1st change: Clearly Unstable 4.79/76.85/14.55/3.82/48%
2nd change: Clearly Unstable 7.01/75.26/14.34/3.39/45%
3rd change: Very Unstable 7.38/77.09/13.33/2.21/49% (this event gave purity increase)
1/11 or 9.09% chance to increase purity and main element in my small test

I fail to see how it has become 'very unstable' considering the overall change.

Instability in cookers was always dependant on time spent in the cooker, and the randomness factor. I don't see why that wouldn't apply to the tubes as well.

It looks like you can potentially get lucky and have good rolls 3-4 times on one item, but to do so you would have to ruin hundreds or thousands of items. Unless rolls get better with higher quality tools.

sorry, but from testing myselfe and what i read at forums, it seems that this new stuff is just crap and a waste of material!
in the end the overall outcome to little!

Yeah the alchemy is very impractical now, I hope they tweak it in the next update so we can actually do something interesting with these toys.

my test tube results consist of an exploded alchemy table and 2k of **** laying all over the ground/in the black side of my house wall.

Bunch of test tubes exploded after miniscule element increases.
Determined this is yet another waste of resources/time untill purity and alchemy changes are re-examined and fixed.

I did some more test, and the new data backs up the old. Very small chance of getting purity increase on items with mid/high purity.. There is some kind cap or diminishing returns for the highest element of the item.
I only used 40-60% purity items, but I strongly suspect it gets MUCH harder to improve higher purity items

Please explain why salt increase was preferable to decrease on all other purities? (especially will all that you wasted, and factoring in all the others who have had explosions)
