Beginner questions:

Postby juv95hrn » Wed Apr 03, 2013 5:53 pm

I played Salem for a few days and browsed the forums and watched some intro Youtube Videos but I still dont get these issues.

1. How do I lift up and carry a wicket basket exactly? I tried shift and ctrl with right and left mouse button but to no success. Can't find the commands to do this.

2. Can I hide 2 baskets in my Leanto? How do I do that exactly? Since I can't lift up a basket I can't really try.

3. Are there any melee weapons in the game? I can kill crickets and want to try rabbits soon. All I see are swords in town and I can't fence yet.

4. To change Homestead I just right click a new Leanto? No cost of writs and stuff?

Other than this I get most concepts of Salem. Cute little game!

1. adventure menu/lift
2. adventure menu/lift then rightclick leanto
3. just sword.
4. rightclick/set as homestead.

Thanks a bunch!

Under Adventure! Of course.

Now the 2 wicker baskets in my leanto only *I* can open unless a high level character is a thief or something, right? It is a little bit safer than just having them out in the open?

Does sword help with non-fencing attacks ie. pugilatory attacks. Should I get one even though I don't have fencing yet? What level of humours do I need to fight rabbits? I'm between 15-20 and can kill Crickets rather well.

Also. Do buildings and crafted items decay over time? I come across what appears to be old abandoned home steads with randomly placed built items. It seems like they are remains of player built locations but with many items gone.

Yup, it takes Larceny to steal from a lean to.

Nope, sword is only for Thrust and Parry.

Rabbits are weaker than crickets, but harder to engage in combat due to their speed. 15-20 blood and ybile should be plenty for them. Heck, you can kill a deer with that if you're good enough.

Active claims protect objects from decay. Inactive ones (ie ones that ran out of silver for upkeep) don't.

Thanks.

If I manage to produce a backpack, does it increase my inventory capacity?

If I want to play with a friend, how do we find each other? Of course we can meet in Boston but if he wants to come to my homestead, is there a quick way with a game feature or does he have to find his way there on his own?

Backpacks adds another 4x2 inventory.

If your homestead is set to a claim (as opposed to a lean to), your friend can give the wilderness guide your homestead secret to have his lean to placed at your homestead rather than somewhere random.

nope. Getting one from another player will not help, since the claim you build with it is linked to the character that bought the writ, not the one that built the claim stake.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
