New player needs some help...

Hello fellow Pilgrims,

I have just started to play this game about two weeks ago and so far I like what I’m seeing. I do have a few beginners questions though that I would like answered if possible:

• How much biles are recommended to start hunting deer for an inexperienced player with only stomp/uppercut available? I can hunt single beavers succesfully but get ko’d against two of them.
• I just started to make leather. Do I really need 1 brain per piece of leather? If so it makes leatherproduction quite pricey.
• Is there anything a recently settled pilgrim can sell profitably and how? (I can make stuff like Minrealogical surveys, leather, dried/limed hides, boards) or is that all too low-level to sell?
• Clothing reduces “difficulty” for certain proficiencies. I can’t find what that means exactly… reducing difficulty from 50 to 20 for example…
• My only defence for my settlement is a improvised fence (the one with the branches) and my claim. Would it be unwise to build a carpenters bench out in the open? It seems to me a carpenters bench is very valuable (it costs a metal bar) and might invite raiders to my settlement?

Thanks in advance for any advice…
Bas

1) deers are dangerous if you can't thrust (Fencing skill & equipped Spanish Sabre) and your biles are not above 25
2) yes it is pricey and difficult to mass product it
3) look at the Trade Wind section and see what players are in demand ATM. Probably in the beginning you'd better off exploring and scanning stumps, savage charms & dried hides will be your primary money source.
4) Clothing can be slotted with Artifices to increase abilities in combat or digging/chopping. The difficulty you're talking about is the difficulty to slot the item (say Indian Arrowhead) that match the same proficiencies of such cloth. You need to search the forum for some nice articles on it.
5) Out of claims buildings and objects decay with time and can be easily picked up. Do not even think about it for anything that need nails or iron ...
