how to tell where the darkness border is in ender client?

Postby Ravi » Tue Apr 02, 2013 7:27 am

I'm using the fancy client/updater. I got an alert that I was in darkness and I saw my bile draining quickly so I ran away. However there was no noticeable difference on my minimap or even in the land around me. I would hate to stumble into it accidentally when I'm low on black bile since it drains so fast. there were some gold squiggles on the minimap on the lake shore but I'm pretty sure sure thats not it. Is there a missing setting I need to click? if i use salem without a client is there an indicator?

and please don't yell at me for not doing this in the ender clients own forum because its also a question about normal salem? derp ><

ctrl+D in ender's client will bring up the darkness info box. I'm not sure just how to read it yet, but the last number ("b=xx") is a measure for how far into darkness you are. Out of darkness it reads 62,75. If it is lower than that, you're in darkness and your biles will start draining.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I played with that but the numbers dont seem to change. I kinda assumed there would be like a giant black fog on the minimap
but thanks

'b' is a good indicator.

It shows the brightness level of the area you're in. The lower the number the higher the drain, same can be said for Elevation but 'b' is a better indicator.

Strange thing is with the recent expansions the corners of the new world on Roanoke don't hit 0 elevation 0 brightness like they did before. Was something like 20 elevation and 5 brightness.
