How do you make some real bank in this game? I've been playing for a while, but leery of becoming a target before I get my proficiencies and humours up to where I want them, I've put together the bare minimum for a homestead. Consequently, I am begining to worry that I might be missing out on ways to acquire some serious silver. I am tired of killing crickets and foraging for Indian feathers to make a buck here and there. I want my piece of the pie!

So what's the best way to go about it? Planting (ugh I hope not). Making things? What are people willing to pay for?

As a tangential aside, I hope a more convenient trading methods emerge once the game goes live. Trying to sell something in chat or on that sparse trade channel or with the occasional forum post is a bit tedious, at least to me.

Hay is generally in demand quite often if you prefer that. For serious cash get up to the point where you can hunt argopelters or hack someone who has a stall.

Depends on what u want to do.
no idea how ur biles are but a few tips would prolly be:
Collect stuff like Hay,Old singing logs,New world gourds,Abandoned cobwebs, try out diffrent items and see wich ones sell fast and are in big demand atm.
stuff like hay are used alot and ar ealways in demand for example.
Farming/producing diffrent food can get u some silver,
iron production Always work
hunting animals for hides might be something? bears might be hard but Beavers can be killed pretty early on(12 silver/Beaver hide )
We never left, We just lay low and the lower we lay we stay connected and make dough.

Argopelters.

Even stall income is a joke compared to farming them.

Let's keep it on the serious side, please. The income may be great from these "birds", but it's nothing any newb should be tackling. Especially when a single dried bear hide is worth 60s.

It's better to set up a simple base, get a mine and some fields going and (maybe) lose it while you get your biles up than to hold back forever and barely get the biles up, as quite quickly the foods you forage become obsolete and inefficient at best. Unless you want to grind ctickets forever and trade them for stall food ;)

Deer are rough. Even at 30 humors I still get KO'ed by deer fairly frequently (I suck at combat apparently :D ).

Listen to Bumchak! Good advise.

As for getting leather, the easiest way is to kill Rabbits for the hide and Beavers for the brains. Beware of beavers in packs though. You're also going to need 15ish humors to kill beaver safely.

All pretty good advice only...
I am quite wary to sell anyone anything at this point without secure trade.

Don't hold your breath. It may never come. Instead, go to the Trade-Winds forum and look for trusted traders on your server and deal with them.
