Resume tracking?

Postby xentrenous » Sun Mar 31, 2013 1:28 pm

So my base got looted and partially wasted today. D; So far, I've followed the scents for about 45 minutes or so about 3 times only to have Ender's client crash on me again and again. That leaves me in the middle of nowhere, in difficult terrain, and for no reason. -.- I know bugs with custom clients (and Java 7 issues) can't be fixed, but I just want to know if there is any way to resume tracking without going all the way back home and picking up the scent again?

Thanks.

To answer the question: no, there isn't. If you don't mind a long trek back, you can "work around" this by constantly moving your homestead with a new lean-to. Wander your way back to your base, collect more scents, port to home, follow till the timer runs out, repeat. I might have the exact steps a bit messed up, but the general idea is there.

Don't use Enders? I've not followed development on it closely, but there have been a few suggestions in the thread on how to mitigate the crashes some. I know it's a lot to dig through. If you have the lone task of tracking, you could use the original client for the duration.

Turn off map storing if you use Enders as this will reduce crashing (out of memory crashes are very common on Vista)

Thanks for the tip, Magicman. Might look into that. As for using Enders, I can't deal with the original client for that long of a walk. Not being able to zoom out very far drives me crazy. Haha.

Cheers, Yourgrandmother. I'll give that a go.
