Whittlers Bench

Okay, I am sure this is easy, but I am not figuring it out. I've got the whittling skill and the 10 logs, but can't seem to make an actual whittler's bench. I am being told that the construction site has no available building materials. What is the trick? I've tried with the materials in my inventory and on the ground both. Just being a noob, I suppose.

You must put the materials into the construction sign. You can pick up the items and right click them in the construction window. You can hold shift and use scroll in the construction window to put numerous of like items in quicker. Be careful though, several items can be substituted for others (like an old log for a block or a smooth stone for a rock).
