You click on the man in the brown hat. every click will cycle through a random set of characteristics, one of them being gender. Gender is the only one that follows a pattern (boy, girl, boy, girl...) You then pres ctrl+T to bring up your skill menu. After getting to your skill menu you will see 2 boxes in the middle. The bottom one will say "Childish Things" click on it and then click buy at the bottom of the skill screen. Walk over to the chest, take your clothes. press ctrl+ i to open your inventory. Press Ctrl + E to open your equipment. Go back to your inventory and shift+click the equipment to easily equip it. (Or drag item to corresponding slot)
After you have fully clothed yourself talk to the man in the purple jacket to name yourself. Then, name yourself.
After doing so right click on the big wooden boat behind him and select the server that you would like to play on.

I don't mean to intimidate you, but if you got frustrated by the very 1st bit of interaction... you read that this game has perma-death right?
Best of luck to you none the less.

Y'all are a buncha fools. Did anyone actually READ what Adelda said? This is clearly a bug report about a non-responsive interface.
Adelda: Does left-clicking or using WASD to move around work, or does the game not respond to any commands whatsoever?

well wrong forum then.
still try enders if this really is a bug, to see if that works and write it in the bug forum section.
but i still read it as a "there is a bug, convince me no to quit" post and to tell you the truth, im sick of the ragequit posts (usely from raiding or not researching game mechanics)
if you dont like it, try to change it, if the devs wont either live with it or leave. No need to try and make a riot.
and he did write a bug report i see.
and for the record i dont like to be called a fool even tho you have a different opnion than me, no matter who is right or wrong.

The WASD keys work to move my charector just fine. Nothing i do with the right of left click on my mouse works at all tho.

and thank you very much Hans i appreciate you asking that. As I appreciate everyone else who took the time to respond and try to help. as for the Enders, i'm really not sure what that is? i'd be willin to try it tho if the interface will work better.

I've had the non-responsive mouse thing happen to me from time-to-time. It usually clears up with a client restart.
