Must I chop down a tree in ONE run?

Hi,

I have only about 17 Phlegm. I read somewhere else in this forum that it would take me about 5 minutes to chop down a tree with a Stone Axe:

"Some things in this game just take time. Chopping down a tree with a Stone Axe takes ~5 minutes. This is annoying, so I just go read something (possibly bad game design). A Metal Axe reduces this to 2.5 minutes"

Do I have to do this in one run without running out of Phlegm? I think this is impossible for me with 17 Phlegm, even with eating in between. Or could I do it in several steps:

- Chop first 10%
- Regenerate
- Chop next 10%
- and so on...

If not, how much Phlegm would you suggest for chopping trees without help of other players?

The tree saves your progress between sessions. I'm not sure for how long, but you've got at least 30 minutes (longest I've tried). Also, why does it take you so much phlegm? It usually only takes my cutter 3 or 4 phlegm total, and if you are eating while cutting you'll still be going up, even with 5 phlegm.

Are you talking about taking out a stump? In that case, stumps also save progress for at least a day. And a metal shovel makes it go MUCH quicker.

Stumps have HPs and, just like other buildings, if you damage it, the HP are permanently lost. The difference is you can repair nearly all buildings.

Thanks for the answers!

- Well, I haven't actually tried it out, because of the 5 minutes and wanted to ask first here to understand the process.

So I am able to cut that tree in my camp! :D

Also, you should try to slot some treechopping artifice into your clothes to speed up the process.
