So i found this node that i was gonna build a mine on and see how good it was. Didn't have the materials with me and i was far from home, but when i came back to the next day, the node was no longer there. Is there a timer that respawns nodes or something that would cause this?

well just walk around were u found it,walk away for a while then go back there it will eventually spawn back.this happened to me and that's how i got it to spawn back

yes, it seems that nodes are not always detected (similar to forageables).
The chance of detection appears to be pretty high, but failure is possible.

I know dowsing rod purity filters out other nodes with differing elements, but the same node with the same rod not appearing consistently? That's worrisome.
