Key Problems

Postby DragonScythe » Sun Mar 10, 2013 6:13 am

After getting killed, I finally was able to get my char back up again. Since I was careful, I kept my master keys on an alt. However, after getting Locksmithing, crafting a key gives "You cannot copy a key you do not own." A few weeks ago, I had done the exact same thing with my friend's master key and it worked just fine. What should I do?

Make a "Master Copy of Key" and then you will be able to make slave keys off of that "copy".

Yes, that's what I did. It still doesn't work however.

note that the key must be aligned to you (its name must be green) to perform any meaningful action with it.
A key which is not aligned to you is, in essence, useless to you.
Only the owner of a key can align it to other characters.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I have copied a key from another player before and its name was in red.

Still really confused :/ Was there an update to the keys? I have copied keys from complete strangers knocked out on my claim before, and now I can not copy ones not attuned to me at all.

You shouldn't be able to copy a key that's not attuned to you. If you have an alt to hold your keys, the keys you give them should be master keys attuned to them so they can use them, or copy them, or attune them to your new character.

I have been able to copy a key that wasn't attuned to me, I don't see any difference in the two situations.
