I have another problem with Salem, answer I dont found on wiki. To what are used Artificer Slots, what is this and most important if it worth to use it somehow. For example I see that jute things dont have slots at all, this mean they are worse than default pilgrim clothes?

If you are not into PVP (as most new players aren't, not from the start), you might want to look into:

early artifacts:
-arrowheads: +5 common offensive
-enforced seams: +10 digging
later on:
-feathered brooch: digging AND woodcutting!
-buckskin inlays: woodcutting, and some defense

these can really save huge amounts of time. With my digging set, I can dig 35% of a tile per tick, compared to the 20% with only a metal shovel. almost twice as fast!
Note that there is no difference between 20-24% per tick, 25-33% per tick, 34-49% tick, 50-99% per tick. 35% is more or less the highest realizable (I think it MIGHT be possible to hit 50%, but it'd take so much work slotting so many pieces with both seams & brooches, especially when for some the proficiencies don't match.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
