Fishing tips?

Postby Cerise » Mon Mar 04, 2013 2:44 am

I have read the article on the wiki about the differerent choices to make depending on the fish, however today I lost a full inventory of earthworms without the dialog appearing even once. Is that just random bad luck? Does it mean that is not a good spot to fish? Also I have only ever caught 3 types of fish even with trying several different types of water. Any suggestions?

Fairly sure its all random. They really need to rework the fishing system

Sounds like extreme bad luck to me.
I have stopped fishing completely because it takes too much effort for little gain. You'd be better off using the worms for compost.

Could hardly agree more, as far as minigames go, this is piss poor.

My guess is that the current "fish-node" you're fishing from is a species which won't accept worms as bait. Fishing in a different area should work better.

As for it's productive output, I think it's ok for early-game as a yellow-bile source without access to Blewits, but is vastly overshadowed by the productive output from Crops, especially when the purity modifiers start kicking in.

just check around, i found a place that accepted the fishing bobbers that you can craft and ended up with more fish than i could actually use, managed to get more than a few levels of phlem and bile out of it, just experiment with what you use and where

also do not think of england, it will not help you fish

Pull West instead! (For freshwater fish)

Think of England is one of the safest options, actually.
Look at the matrix of possible choices, narrow it down to the area you are fishing in. (River shallows: TNLP, SDMS, TT, GWhitefish)
Then look for some of the options that divide the set of fish in two subsets by reaction on some certain movement. (Resist: if - then it's TT; Pull High: if - then it's SDMS), keep the note on top of your window while fishing and you should be able to catch fish with more precise outcome.

Last time I fished I tried to counter the effects with less aggressive manouvers. Like, if I started leaning forward too much I selected I less aggressive approach and then pulled/reeled in/whatever.
But I still feel it's a waste of (my) time. I bake cookies and make cabbage rolls to improve my Yellow bile. Much easier. :D
