If I put the rose into a pot will it grow into two roses?

If not, can I take the single rose back out of the pot?

I don't want to plant it if I am going to lose it as a result.

assuming the same rules as for other gardening stuff, you'll get two roses influenced by the purity of the humus and water, or three if you had the horticulture skill at the moment of planting.

I see no reason to think it'd have different rules ...
(mine aren't grown yet, as they were only planted yesterday)

If you were in closed beta, the postman will have a package for you. If not, give it 2 days and I'm sure you'll start seeing them in player stalls.
