if you are gonna fight other people then yes, but if you craft and explore i dont see what the problem is.

and its easier now to get going since you can buy stuff from players and dont have to craft everything yourself

You cant bring beavers to town to kill people anymore. Was stopped a couple of months ago. This game is care bear.

well even if you have played since the launch of the server (was it december or january?) odds are you would still be able to get killed very easy and your homestead destroyed.

either stay away from everybody, log out each time you see another player and carry everything you make or face the fact that you have the chance to be killed and have your "base" destroyed no matter how long you have played.

my tip for you is:
start on one of the 2 "new" servers (Roanoke and Jamestown)
use you wilderness spawn and try to go far far away from everything, if you see other settlements within 50 screen then move
build up a homestead and start making food and get your humors up and when you have the skills you can move to a better location and maybe even closer to other people and build a more defended homestead.

but in the end its all the same, you can still get killed and your homestead can still be destroyed so thats why i dont see what the problem is.

Don't get attached to your character/s.
Log out every time you see a person outside of the server city.
Keep a low claim profile to lower the risk of raiders targeting you.
Keep valuables on a separate account that stays in the server city.

There are nice Russians and there are less nice Russians. The not so nice have used the dead beaver/deer to camouflage their approach. If you see a suspicious beaver/deer coming at you, log out.

kk your choice, but im betting you that within a few days of a new server opening you will still be way behind the raider/bandit type players on that server.

p.s there was talk of server transfer comming in the future.
