Different milling yields from different ears of cereal

Ok, so I just harvested my super-special VERY FIRST harvest of...oats? Hmm, I thought 168 influence would get me something better than that.

Anyways, I harvested a total of 4 ears (at 156 plenty?), threshed two of them for 50 seeds each, and then took the other two to the mill.
Milling the first remaining ear of oats, I got 3 stacks of 0.50 flour.
Milling the second, I got a stack of 0.50 and a stack of 0.06, significantly less.

So my question is this: Does the last ear harvested hold the "remainder" of the total yield of the plot (as opposed to yields being random), and if so, is there anyway to tell how deficient an ear of cereal is going to be?

Yes, it does hold the remainder and is directly based off the plenty that the field had before you harvested it.

Are you sure it was 156 plenty?
Last ear holds, as you call it, remainder of the plenty. If plenty was 156 it should be 6 seeds in that last eat but I am not certain about flour should be less than 0,56.
The remainder goes for all crops, not only cereals.

At 100% plenty a field will yield 2 full ears, and sometimes an empty 3rd ear. When you grind 1 full ear into seeds you get 50 seeds. When you mill one full ear into flour you get 2.00kg.

As for the influence, at 100% influence the crop you influenced will gain +5 in that bar...200% +10. You need over +50 in one bar before changing the crop type to recieve a higher tier product. Raising the influence has no effect on the currently planted crop.

I might have remembered some numbers incorrectly, such as thinking I only got 3 stacks of flour from the first ear, and the Plenty was probably different than I recalled.

Thanks for the information. The two kinds of "influence" for fields was a bit confusing, but I suppose it makes more sense that you can't just grow Sea-Island Cotton from the get-go by just piling-on hay.

Is there any way to tell which harvested crop is going to be deficient if they git mixed up in your inventories or storage, or do you just have to keep track of the last ear that was harvested? If I'm gonna make a John Barleycorn mask, I don't want to use up a full ear of precious 0% purity Oats.

The partial ear will always be the last one picked, so you can harvest and throw the last ear in your backpack or a different container if it really bothers you that much.
