Bears can go in shallow water, but not deep water. So, no, they can't swim.

Animals spawn on paved tile. What's stops them from spawning is a personal claim. They won't spawn in a pclaim, but they will spawn in a village.

Shame about the tile, just wanted an enclosure for wood piles, didnt really want to have to claim the land, dammit, just didnt want bears ruining it.. cos from what I read its like the trees in Haven, go anywhere near it and your f@*#ked.
