Empty Village

So i was wandering looking for a place to set down roots and i found this amazing spot with a large forest plains and a river and no ridges.... Only problem is there is the remains of a village there. All that is left is roads and a wooden fence surrounding it and a half finished stone wall. There is no claim here and everything is intact (gates are all open), now the question. If i build a claim on this land can i take over the walls and gates there? also is it a good idea?

one minor thing... Just discovered to the north there is a decent sized claim (2 houses and production fields) its across a few rivers but it makes me a little leery

If the ground is flat, you should definitely take it over...there might be a reason they abandoned it though.

Just make sure the gates are either unlocked so you can use them and put your own lock on, or that you have high enough humors to get through the soak and destroy them. You don't want to live in a place with gates you can't close.

so update... i decided to pass because the place to the north is actually a large village and at its front walk way is a pair of skeletons setup so that they warn people off... think i discovered why the village was abandoned.
