Trapped on a claim placed over where I logged out

Postby KatyaKanya » Mon Feb 11, 2013 5:39 am

I haven't logged in over 6 months. Moving, holidays, etc. but my client was out dated, I upgraded Enders and it said I had to lose all my inventory to be returned to my homestead. So I did it and now I'm trapped. In what WAS my place but it looks like someone else has taken it over and put a new claim up so now I'm all crime and passed out and the gates are locked and what the hell am I supposed to do now? Won't let me travel, my lean to, well it WAS my lean to, won't let me interact with it now because it's under someone elses claim..... so yeah... umm what am I supposed to do? Help help :(

Split post off from a thread in City upon a Hill. Thought you might get more reasonable responses here.

I'm not even sure how you even had a homestead after six months away. A lean-to would have decayed (takes an average of about 2-3 weeks from what I've seen), and a personal claim would have been destroyed before someone could have taken over like this. (An upkeep mechanic was added and a month's free upkeep given to all players. It expired nearly a month ago.)

Best thing you can do that I can think of is to move the "Travel to Boston" button to the hot bar and spam press it so you can get off the claim. This will only work if you don't have a Crime! debuff, though.

I have no idea what's going on. It's my old place that has obviously been taken over by someone else, which makes sense in my absence but it loaded me where my lean-to was/is, I have no idea if it's mine but it's in the same place. It's a walled in little square with two gates that I had made long ago but the inside is different now but I was totally immobile when I logged in. I turned crime on so that I could move and try to get out and then I passed out in the square that is now owned by someone else. Will the Crime! ever go away so that I can even try to spam the Move to Boston button? I've been seeing stars for a day and half now. Last I logged in it was back to the stuck spot but I'm still unconscious. I just was to play again :( Help.

This is very strange to me, too. The only thing I can guess at currently is a possible bug if neither the lean-to nor claim at that location is yours.

Would I be stuck if the lean-to was still mine but someone put a claim over it? Long lasting lean-to if that's the case. If so is there a way around it?
Oh and does the Crime! tag thing ever wear off since I can't "put distance" between me and the crime since I'm eternally knocked out and trapped?
So frustrating :( SOL? ... please say no :(

I would say the crime mechanic is broken. If you are KO'd and have infinite crime status, a server reboot would probably fix it. If that leanto is yours, then you will port back to it and have to port to Boston to find a new place to settle.

Now see I tried that when I first logged in. I was stuck by the lean-to, stuck because the land was claimed so I couldn't move. I then tried to travel to Boston but it wouldn't let me. So that's when I turned on crime and my bile dropped to zero and now here I lay knocked out... still.

*sigh*... if none of that is fixable... any idea when a reboot is gonna be so I can at least try it all over again. To see if that spamming trick MagicMan suggested might work?

Well, there is a new announcement talking about a change in about a week which would require a reboot...but other than that we are usually in the dark, and sometimes the server crashes and what not.

I think i would be helpful if you could post a screenshot of the claim. Include UI and be sure that you have the SHOW PERSONAL CLAIMS option turned on. If this is a bug, you should document the circumstances. If it is not bug, then maybe someone can help you understand what is happening and help you solve the issue.

Good Luck!
