My town and I can't figure out if items degrade if it is on grass that is on a claim (town and personal). I remember items degraded in haven and hearth when not on stone.

Items (not buildings) will always decay on grass.

buildings will never degrade on a financed pclaim.
Items will despawn when the map gets unloaded from server memory (regardless of claimed/unclaimed land status)

If you're inquiring to the change from what needed to be done in HnH to Salem, no, you don't need to pave the land first, though with certain terrain types, you do need to as you can't normally build on them.

Magicman is of course, at least when it comes to structure decay on claims. In H&H if you did not make a wall on a paved area it would still decay, that's not the same in Salem paving is mostly cosmetic. For dropped items they will disappear over time no mater what you do.
