If you live in or near a forested area, you should be able to find a few Salem Wiki: Singing Old Logs - these are all that are required to get your skills up enough to unlock and obtain Salem Wiki: Settling. A thorough search of Hollow Stumps in your area may help you gather enough silver to buy the writ of homesteading - rattler skins sell for 4 silver in Jamestown.
