Hey guys, I read that the developer of this game also developed Haven and Hearth and wanted to know if Salem is a more polished version , and what the differences are? I am interested in trying that game out as well, but having a hard time pulling away from Salem lol. Thanks all..

HnH has a LOT more lag. It has more content though. All the HnH vets rate it better than Salem, personally, aside from content I don't see why.
When you get bored with Salem and are waiting for the next update would be a good time to give it a go. Explaining the whole game would take too long. There are a lot of powerful characters looking for noobs to kill though so be wary.

(personal opinion)
What I like more about H&H compared to Salem:
- faster/better early game
- more appealing setting for me
- no need to eat every 2 minutes because of phlegm
- I like the 2d isometric graphics more than 3d salem ones
- no need to build 100 wall layers
- more content
- imo LP system is less annoying than the inspirational system
What I think Salem did better than H&H:
- feels less grindy
- no silly mechanics like having to attend to steel every x hours for it not to fail
- less gamebreaking bugs
- no search over uber rare resource nodes
- easier to get metal
- no heartvaults
- no sliders (aka specialisations for your character)
- more hermit friendly overall

lol you need to play more
OP
Haven is a much better game as salem stands atm. If it wasn't for the lag haven pop would triple salem at all times. Eventually salem will be better when there is more content and less game breaking bugs

Yes, as of right now with content alone, H&H is better. However, if the content is added in Salem that should already be in (like livestock, witchcraft, horses, other creatures, and darkness stuff) Salem IMO will surpass H&H. The killer for H&H is the horrible lag and rubberbanding, which for me make it impossible to play due to my impatience.

Also the fact that nothing is safe or worth having above ground in salem really takes alot away from it for new people.

It's not exactly a game feature

I do admit I have not been the most active beta tester so far so my knowledge is not perfect, but:
- no silly mechanics like having to attend to steel every x hours for it not to failI'm pretty sure about this one.. unless I am missing something here, in which case I'd be happy with an explanation. And this one is a big game changer for me, actually.

True, steel is a pain in H&H (husband still gets POd when he screws up the timing and has to start over...lol). Nothing like that in Salem that I know of except those turkeys are friggin pigs. Have to feed them all day long lol.
