Hunting Deer

Postby Rinaru » Fri Jan 04, 2013 6:26 am

I am having a hard time finding beavers for their brains so I want to move onto hunting deer which I have plenty of around my camp.

What stats would you recommend having before trying to kill these guys.

Those 10 damage charges are kind of rough.

Just as a side note, which may also prove useful for new people - when I first started, I killed deer by climbing onto a ledge above them and using stomp, it took about 5/6 hits but incured no damage to myself - of course you have to look for deer around hilly areas. You can also trap them on ledges with boulders, etc and achieve the same results.

25sh stats and Fencing should be more than enough.

Turn on Guard.

Thrust.

Now attempt to 'ram' the deer untill it stops moving. Once you encounter the deer from the sides or front while it is moving it will stutter stop. Which should give you enough time to land another thrust to kill it (15 combined HP). With guard the rush should only do 5 damage and will only happen once normally.

I use trees/objects to stop LOS from deers so they can't rush...they will eventually come around the tree anyway, and usually can hit them at that point.

Just use hollow logs and boulders to fence them in, then stomp them. You dont need ledges.
