I can zoom in and out but is it possible to rotate the camera, if so I'm having trouble doing it.

Thanks

Hold down your middle mouse button and move the mouse.

And make sure you're on free cam mode. I'm not sure how to switch to that if you're on the vanilla client. If you're on Enders its in the options menu.

What if it's a built in mouse on a laptop with the mouse pad, left button, and right button, but no middle?

If you are using Latikai client there is a "Laptop Mode for Mouse" in the Latikai Tab of the Menu Window. I am not sure if it exists in the Ender client, nor do I have the default client installed to check there. If you prefer to use a client that does not have that support built in, you can try this post I made about using AutoHotKey

The vanilla client has video options in the options menu now. You can switch to Free Cam mode there.
