Clearing forest

Postby Burt » Tue Jan 01, 2013 3:41 pm

Hi, I was just wondering. I want to settle in an area with forestland al around, and that means no grassland and no Autumn Grass. If I clear out areas of the forest, will it become grassland?

Yes.

Make sure you remove the stumps as well.

This will take time.

I recently cleared a bunch of land for timber piles. As an experiment I left 10 tile spacing between each and cut down and de-stumped any tree. Removed any static berry bushes. After about 2 weeks time grassland has formed I would say 20x50 wide.

Ok, when the tree is cut down, that small tree stump that is left, will that have to be removed to? If so, how is that done? I don't seem to get any options when hovering above it.

Oh wow.. This is some big news to me... Does that mean you could also make an artificial coniferous or autumn forest by planting tons of pine/maple trees respectively?

Very interesting!
I've been clearing autumn woodland for my new camp. It would be really cool if I'd get some grassland closer to home.
