Help. Real noob question. What am I doing wrong? I am trying to build a woodpile. The sign goes up, but when I click 'build', it says I dont have the construction materials

Put materials into sign. Either hover mouse over label that says: 4/0/0 and shift+scroll them inside or just left click materials in inventory and then click them into that window.

Another noob question. I had a simple rod which I equipped with various baits and lures. but when I tried to use it, It said I needed an equipped rod.

press CTRL+E (equipment window) and put it in your hand slots.

You can always go on the Salem IRC chat, usually quite a few people around there. Here's is a link to a webclient logging you directly on the salem channel.

There is an in-game chat. You can generally get answers to questions like this in game if you ask in boston.

To save yourself much time.

Hold shift + mousewheel scroll down to quickly place items from your inventory into the build sign.

Scroll up removes them from build sign into inventory.
