Direction question

I am finding it hard to tell which direction I am heading because the camera keeps spinning around. Is there some way to either lock the camera or preferably show the current direction the camera is facing? Thanks!

Minimap doesn't turn around so you can navigate using that.
or download custom client and change camera to 'free camera' in options.

Thanks, I will start watching that as I walk I just find myself going in the wrong direction on the mini-map as well lol. I am using Ender's client and will look for that option as well.

One more question if you guys don't mind, I am trying to get my black bile healed and cannot seem to find anything around Boston that heals it and have searched for the last hour? Do I have to leave Boston to find Blackberries? I see the bushes but it wont let me "pick" them.

Yeah it would be a good idea to leave boston but use the wilderness guides to send you far away in the wilderness.

The bushes have already been picked. It takes a month or so to get them to grow again.

Dang a month? I was following Sevenless' guide and it said to pick berries as I was working to get the first skill. I went back after getting it looking around, and went outside of Boston but guess I should head back and use a guide then(don't want to get griefed). Thanks for the help!

Instead of making a new topic I figured it would be best to post here since it's still at the top(sorry for all the questions). I have been following Sevenless' guide as I stated last post but I cannot figure out some of the biomes and how to tell where I should settle. Can anyone tell me what the colors on the minimap are for certain biomes? I assume bright green is grassland(but tree's tend to spawn in this sparsely so maybe it's forest?), and the orangish color is the autumnal. The guide says to mostly look for a large grassland and large forest with water somewhat close. I am not understanding the difference unless I need to look for "coniferous" as forest and I just have not found that yet?

Thanks again and sorry if this sounds noobish, but I cannot seem to find any guide on biomes and what they entail(for forest I picture a ton of tree's and have not found that yet).

The wiki has some good information about terrain types and you can see the differences on this page, also contains link to the individual terrain types. However it does seem to be missing a few of the types, terrains have also been discussed in this thread recently and might be of some help as well.

Thanks! I guess I started in a grassland area with no forests nearby(besides small patches), time to explore :).

Another question here, what is a brown dirt-like road supposed to be?
