Darkness

Never done much research with darkness but I would like to understand it better;

I've noticed on low humour characters I have in very shallow darkness, their soft humour drains. (The first part out of Soft/Hard/Max humour numbers, as you see in enders client.) But, when I go deeper with my fighter, eventually his hard humour starts to drain, instead of the soft humour. (The soft humour just goes down because the hard is.) One thing though, even though they're off balance by about 20, they start draining at the same time when hard humours start to drain. I assume there is two darknesses?: At first it only drains your soft humours if they're below a certain threshold, but at a certain point it switches to hard humours.

Could someone explain this to me or confirm my hypothesis?

From earlier tests of the darkness, this is new. There was never hard humour drains in the past. And no one has ever reported all humours starting to drain at the same time despite fairly different values (mind, knowing total stats would help. The healing formula could give reduced healing/stat at very high ends if you're up really high)

Possibly a ninja update. Nice discovery :3

As far as I know, darkness first affects your regeneration, if that's negative, you'll start draining.
If you eat, and you don't have any regeneration left due to darkness, you'll start to see the drain on your hard cap, instead of on your soft cap/regen.

That's what i noticed from living for months in the darkness, always stoned & i don't give a crap about theorycrafting !

In the "real darkness" all of your humours are drained at the same time, however high they are.
Fyi, most of the researches and wiki info comes from 30 humours characters.

Ninja update? It was like that for few months, if I understand you both correctly.
You just needed 50-60+ stats to get into that soft-hard stats drain border.

70~ biles the real darkness gives a soft drain of 0.8 ish per tick regardless of how high your biles are, but you will be able to heal through this with food, once your biles are 70+ ish or so. (With purity foods, (I mostly used dry pies to regen and had 100's of cereal fields) its quite easy)

Anything lower than 60/70 biles in the real darkness will result in a hard-drain on your stats which you are unable to regen through.

When i was in the 50's in biles i done insane missions into the darkness making leanto's every 2-3 tiles then needing to go to boston to regen, then going back to explore deeper i would lose -1.5 hard drain per tick(When i went exploring i doing this i could be gone for hours at a time, these were in the deepest parts of plymouth darkness the N/W + S/W corners of the map, which is different from the direct N/S/W walls from boston which can be reached with 50~ humor characters.

I can assure you i have a 100% complete plymouth map, which i will never be sharing :o

I've also occasionally noticed a 0.9 drain per tick [not really in the deepest parts of the world, but somewhere in the "real darkness"].

This happens the more you go into the N/W and S/W corners of the map, as the darkness emanates out from boston as a ring however the map borders are square, therefor the 2 corners of the map have harder drains.

The thing is, the drain in the corners is 0.8 and the 0.9 one I experienced was not really so close to them/edge/s of the world. ;)
