I'm having a similar problem. I want to get Butchering. I already have Small Game Hunting, Field Dressing... even Big Game Hunting and Hideworking, but it stll doesn't appear as available. Anyone know what else do I need?

If you have field dressing, there should be an option to learn Butchery. Are there any butchery type skills open for you to learn? If so, try learning that one and see if it brings up butchery.

It will be helpful if we can see what skills you have and what is available if nobody has an immediate answer for you. My first thought, Game Meats, is likely wrong, but if the wiki doesn't have all the unlocks for Game Meats listed, then it might be worth a try. (Pretty sure I've gotten Butchery before Game Meats every time, though.)

Another thought: You have Simple Cooking yet? These are the first recipes that allow you to put those steaks you get from Butchery to use.

Butchery is unlocked for me, before Game Meats, but only after Simple cooking, Small game hunting. I did not run into this same problem. But i did notice I had those 2 before I was able to get butchery. I don't know if this helps the situation, but hope it does.

Why are questions related to the wiki are discussed on the forum of the game?

because if the wiki hasn't been updated, newer players are going to ask questions and want answers.
It's also a good way of people who do work on the wiki to see what is out of date

Also because the wiki says field dressing unlocks butchery, in this case the OP has field dressing but not the option to learn butchery.
