I have read the guides and am still not sure on how to find higher mines. I bought a 4% purity rod and found a 3% purity mine.

So i made bars by using only the 3% ore, thinking it would give me higher purity, but it does not work that way ? So how do you make a higher level rod, if the purity never increases from the ore to ingots making.

Is the answer that my 4% rod, can find a >5% mine ?

Any help is appreciated.

Each rod can find minehole with +/- 10 (or 15) difference in each 4 alchemical values(salt,merc etc.). As a side note: purity is counted from alchemical values of object.
So you can find minehole with higher or lower purity.

10 iirc.

In otherwords: keep looking, you will eventually find a mine closer to 10-14 %.

I found a 9%, made some rods and went looking for higher. I found a 3% with my 9% rods, yet my lower level rods couldnt see it !!! Makes it tough.

key word to mystery: 4 alchemical components.

So realistically, how significant is this process? Are we talking about having to spend weeks hunting down every mine entrance location for minimal gains? If so, I'll stick to my little 3% mine for now.

its always good to get better purity. you will be making mines all over the place for better purity. unless you are selling/making the iron/ lockets there isn't much need to grind purity atm.
