Someone is knocked out on my claim...

Someone is knocked out on my claim and I'm wondering what I can do besides send them home. Could I steal from them without getting a crime buff? or kill them? I don't have the skills yet but I could probably get them within the next 24h. There was really nothing of value on that particular claim that I had just started to build up and it's probably some noob.

do what you want but you will drop a scent. make them sweat it out if you don't want to kill em

So you get a scent for both stealing (larceny) and murder, or just murder, when someone is ko'ed on your claim? If I leave a scent could I have an alt pick them all up or are they persistent to the location?

100% persistent. Even criminals have rights you know. Nothing about crimes changes because they're KOed there.

This would say otherwise, especially since it was carried by colonists to the new world, but well...yeah, you can't do anything to criminals in this game, else you'll leave scents as well.

If you send them home, they still drop their inventory. You won't get their purse, weapons, and clothes, but you might get some nice stuff anyway. All with no crime being committed.

Ahh ok, thanks. I'll just let them stew there for awhile then. One more question, if I were to expand my claim and add locked gates while he was ko'ed when he wakes up would he quickly get ko'ed again? Or is there time for him to teleport somewhere if he doesn't linger.

"is an American legal doctrine"

Although it is indeed temporally correct, our devs are not American. Castle Doctrine is considered very barbaric by essentially all developed countries other than the states. In Canada the saying legal advice goes "Self defense is not an excuse for killing someone". You need to demonstrate very clearly that you had no other options or you are in deep trouble. Manslaughter isn't fun to be jailed for.

Good question. I don't think so though, I think they wake up at boston/home claim. Not sure.

cept there is no "legal" system for enforcing this. If my friend breaks in and you kill them that doesn't mean there isn't evidence that it didn't happen. The law in salem is more frontier law type stuff.

By that concept there's no such thing as crime scents at all though is there? It's a tricky situation where we're balancing "realism" with "functional gameplay" aspects.
