When I try to log in to my character, which I had been playing earlier today, it tells me that my client is too old. Do I have to get another beta key? Argh

no you have to wait for the enders client to be updated just use the default one for now

Note to all newer players, every time the main client is updated (see announcements for update info), the Ender's and BDSalem (apxeolog) client's will need to be updated as well before we can use them again.

Also worth noting, the jnlp format allows for automatic updating, because it checks itself against a repository online before each launch. There's not (usually) any reason to redownload it from ender's thread. It will simply work when he's updated it.

I've been looking and looking for the fix to this and this is the first thread i've found with any useful info.
