Combat tips

Postby napalmeddie » Sat Dec 01, 2012 3:32 am

Ok, I just got KO'd by a cricket. I've got backally pugilism and 8 blood. I stomped on the ground, as suggested in the wiki but each time I did it the cricket just hopped around. I took a couple of swings at it as well with no luck. I may have damaged it once. Does anyone have suggestions on how to actually hit a target that just hops about madly?

wiki is outdated. Punch/uppercut the cricket, walk away from it until it is following you then punch/uppercut in its direction again. Repeat until dead.

Could you link the page you saw that on so someone can at least delete the outdated tip(s)? I won't promise new guides or techniques at this point, though. We'd appreciate it!

I ripped the suggested stomp fighting tactics out of the wiki (kicking and screaming) and replaced it with the punch and run strategy for rabbit, cricket, and beaver (and Bullrun and avoidance tactics for snakes).

After you attack it for the first time just keep a certain distance away from it as it wanders around, and then when it follows you to attack start the stomp so it lands exactly when the animal gets in range to attack. Then just follow with an uppercut while its stunned then run away to the same distance and repeat. Takes practice but after awhile you'll know the perfect timing and you'll never take damage unless they instantly attack you when you initiate them, just put guard up when you start fighting and then turn it off once it starts wandering around.

Thanks for the tips guys. I was afraid the combat mechanics would turn me away from an otherwise awesome game.
