Unbulit Structure Storage

If you place structures can you store items in them permenantly or can they disappear?

they wont disappear unless someone removes them

^what Dallane said but that works only on claim, unclaimed buildsigns will decay(mins/hours/days/weeks-depends how unLUCKY you are).

I other words you can store lots of stone (lime, granite) in a single tile using unbuilt stone hedge cornerpost.

I use windmill buiding signs because they hold 400 of any stone.

Don't they have a rather large footprint?

They do, but there aren't very many things in this game that dont have an overly large hitbox. Just plan them out next to your smelters in your village layout.

Yes, I can see it for the smelting operation (I will keep that in mind for later). My current operation just needs lime and granite near my kiln and tanning tub -- the windmill would be overkill.
