Hi all! Hope you can help my clueless self.

For some reason I cannot get my Farmer's house to drop on this spot in my claim. I can drop it diagonally in the middle of the open space, but not where I have it marked. They are only 6 spaces right? I have an area of 8X8. Any idea why?

You need to get rid of all the leafy forest tiles...I would just pave the whole section that you will put the house one.
