Prospecting

Can someone help explain how I find a mining spot. I have reviewed the wiki page and am still unclear what the arror means. Is it trying to point north or towards a mining spot. How close must I get to the spot before it appears?

nevermind, i have found a spot and it is luckily quite close to my camp.

2-3 minimaps away before the arrow really means anything generally speaking.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.
