This wasn't in the wiki and wanted to know if there is a name for this terrain:
http://ad.lylay.com/hts/smap.html?x=-37.36&y=-70.12

It doesn't have much tree's, and i like how it tiles look like ^^
I think this land here is good for gathering milkweed roots, wild garlic and witch hats cause that's the most i see when i traveled there.

It looks like dark forest, but I believe it's a marsh biome.

They both have the same base terrain, but the forageables are a little different. You don't see turkeys in marsh biomes and you don't see milkweeds in dark forest.

I call it "barren forest" or "brown forest". There are many snakes. Some cool things like Singing logs don't spawn there. The grass spawns are good tho, makes it a good replacement for a plain near.

It's called oak savannah. You can find grass, crickets, sugar caps, myrtle oak there

Jorb promised at some point all biomes will be truly unique in their forageables. It's on the to-do list. Right now oak savannah sucks otherwise.

I love the oak savannah near me, tons of grass for hay, lots of sugar/oakworth/garlic, and there are plenty of rabbits/crickets. Also there are usually deer on it, and beavers spawn near the water. Not to mention I've gotten just as much lime/granite/flint as anywhere else I've been.

It's certainly got a much thinner spawn rate than a forest, but it's not that bad of a biome.

The critters are new. It used to spawn exactly like grassland but minus the animals. From your description it just sounds like regular grassland now.
