I was wondering if certain clothes provide better protection than others? If not, is this something that will eventually be implimented?

There are no mechanics associated with clothes. They will do something eventually, but there really hasn't been much disclosed on what or how much. I think they want to avoid any "armor" properties, though.

No, not really. Best you can do is get that character killed off. With the only way to kill a character being murder (and a couple of bugs), delete might actually be necessary.
