Help needed understand Torchposts and Scents.

I have looked around and found either unverified or conflicting information or simply not enough information about Torchposts and Scents.
Starting with Torchposts (which include brazier types):
1. Do torchposts need line of sight to shoot? As in buildings/fences/trees won't block them from attacking?
2. Do torchposts actually shoot a projectile that can miss or is it just instant damage?
3. How much damage do the various torchposts actually do at 0 purity both regular hit and critical (not counting multiple torchpost damage falloff)?
4. How much is the damage falloff of having multiple same Torchposts in range of each other?
5. Pouring a water bucket on to braziers disables it for a time or damages it and is this a crime?
Then scents:
A. Scents are a physical objects that can be picked up, does it exist as just a single item or can everyone pick up a copy of it and it remains in place till it expires?
B. Trespassing through a claim does it place a scent just on entering a claim or a scent per tile passed through?
C. With l3wting can you steal inventory items of a player through thier homestead (lean-to/claimstone) if they are online or just when they are offline?
D. Stolen items carry the scent with them, does that mean an extra inventory space is used by a scent or it is part of the item? Do they leave a scent in where they stole from?
Any answers on this would be very helpful in base defences and positioning.
