Does this automatically give you cloak and dagger...or combat training of sorts? Unsure of what 'diploma' means for fencing and small game hunting ?

Thanks in advance

It's my understanding you get the skills, not the proficiencies.

Proficiency is the skill level you need to reach to buy the actual skill. you need 1500 CD to get fencing. 1500 is the proficiency lvl and fencing is the skill

To amplify on this a bit:

There is a skill called Agriculture. It is your basic farming skill set that lets you prepare fields, plant and harvest grains, and make compost. It requires levels in three proficiencies: Frontier & Wilderness determines how well your character understands living off the land, Stocks & Cultivars determines how well your character understands the life cycle of plants, and Natural Philosophy determines how much in tune your character is with the physical world (note: these are my interpretations of the proficiencies and may not match the dev's concepts).

So, you study inspirational items to raise your proficiency levels as required, then add sufficient inspiration to all the required proficiencies to "buy" the skill.

ah..got it...so what happens if like a starter person has just the 500 normal in C&D, and is given the fencing skill. Does it matter that his C&D is only 500 as opposed to the normal 1500 needed to buy the skill, will it detriment his fighting ability?
