I went and bought a claim and have expanded a bit. The problem i am having is I settled pretty close to water. I am not able to level the ground near the water. I don't think I will be able to put up fences due to the unlevel ground. any suggestions? I really hate to have to lose all the silver i have invested in expanding this claim.

might have to change your building plans to fit the right way

You can always start expanding in the direction opposite of the water..... as long as you haven't built very much it would be easier to destroy and rebuild than to lose your money. Unless you mean that you built the stake right next to water and can't get a fence around it, then you're SOL.

No reason the stake has to be within the walls.

But wouldn't that make it easier for raiders/griefers to just trespass onto your territory and then destroy the claim, essentially freeing everything within your walls for the taking? I've never tried taking over someone elses claim so I don't know how that works, but I would have thought that your stake claim was the thing you'd most want within the walls.

Claim stones are indestructible (unless you accidently click declaim).
