Does the plants in pots grows in a mine or is it a bad idea ? (I Guess the dark in the mine could prevent the plants to grow due to lack of light for photosynthesis...)

Pretty much everyone gardens in their mine. Right now, it's a good option. It might not be forever, but you''ll be able to move the pots out of the mine if it ever becomes a bad place to garden.

not to mention that most of us don't even have that much space top-side. Oh well, we survived the mine field nerf as well as the 1x1 field nerf. It would make sense to at least leave us the mushrooms in the mines

Yeah, you have to bring cartloads of barrels to your mine and bring each barrel down one by one. It's the price you pay for almost free space.

the mine sits on a sheet of limestone bedrock and has several naturally occuring flowstones in the mine drip irrigating the plants. thats why.
