Normally it may take 5-7 doses. Given you are "almost dead" you might need more.
Are you absolutely sure you identified the disease correctly ?

If you are, then moar salts!

If you used the wrong cures during the time you have this disease, then the next cure will be less effective. For example, if you drank lots of Willowbark Tonic earlier when you may have been uncertain about the disease, then later treatment with salts will be less effective and you'll need more doses. If you are certain about the disease, then I echo Lihz: more salts

No, once you're sure of your symptoms, you should ONLY take the right cure. Taking all of them will only make you less likely to ever be cured and is always bad advice.

This isn't a troll, but you should maybe get a will or plan your estate at the graveyard:(

Just keep plenty of food on you to replenish your humors. You only die of disease if you get KO'd with a full disease bar.
