Just started playing after being ported into the wild ... i found a trunk with a pilgrim purse (500silver) and a brain, I didn't take it ... (It has to be another pilgrim silver right?)

problem is a bear that is roaming right outside my homestead...(got taken out 1 time already) does the bear ever go away?

... and if I run away How am I supposed to find my homestead again?

The purse belongs, or belonged, to a pilgrim most likely.

Bear will go away if you log out / leave the area for some time (5 mins may be enough, but sometimes 30+ may be needed)

If you run and don't remember the way to your homestead, you can drop everything from your inventory and teleport back using adventure -> travel -> home

Finders keepers. If you don't take that money somebody else will.

Yes, unless the silver is near someone's homestead, there is a good chance the original owner would never find it again. Or you could advertise on the forums for someone to identify the silver, which would be the start of an amusing, but not very useful, thread.

I'm sure the purse you found was empty, an empty Pilgrim's Purse says "Holds 500 Silver" when it is empty. I've disposed of a few in the same way when it was no longer needed (early on) by sticking it in a stump for someone else to use if they needed one.
I've accidentally "fooled myself" before by thinking an empty snakeskin purse I had in storage was full, because it says "Holds 750 Silver" on it. It's east to misconstrue that to mean "it currently is holding X silver" when it actually means "will potentially hold a maximum of X silver, but is currently empty". The actual amount currently inside the purse is only displayed if it is not empty.

But I just found 2 silvers in an other trunk and I am wondering why anyone would let 2 silvers in a trunk ...

i think the 2s is normal spawns

2-4 silver can somewhat regularly be found in "wild containers" (stumps, logs, myrtle oaks), yes, along with snake skins which are worth 4s (or more) if you can make it back to the city with them.
