I have recently learned the Pig Keeping skill that allows me to build a barn, which in the wiki states it is to keep farm animals healthy during a cold snap. Are farm animals available in Providence ?

Not yet. It's looking like Darwoth might be the only one who will bring them back from Popham so it might be awhile.

How do you feed cattle? With a food trough? Must the cattle be kept within the "area covered by the trough"? Does it matter, by type of animal, what you put into the "food trough"? There's no "WATERING trough"?

They are fed with a food trough, gotta keep them in range of the trough. I think if they get a hunger tick while out of range they can miss a meal and get a bit of anger perhaps. Does not matter what you put in the trough, it all turns to feedstock. There is indeed no water trough atm, that i know of.

Are all of the animals providing just meat, or are there alternative options? Ex. cows would give beef, but they could also be kept for milk. Do they have lifespans or can they be kept forever? I would love to be able to keep a Bessie forever

Animals also provide things like wool, milk, cheese, and some nice inspirationals.

Animals die with age. Can't remember if the lifespan was modified by metabolism but possibly not. I think my first cow took something like 5ish days to mature and something like a week or two to die? Maybe up to a month, it's been a while. Either way they do age eventually,so you can just keep its offspring. That was actually one way I liked playing with the animals of Haven, keeping a lineage going and improving on it, and maintaining the names relevant to that lineage. So please do give them family names or something and tend to them dearly because they were pretty fun to take care of, and I bet it's even less frustrating now after the tweaks.

Aw, thanks for the answers

Sounds pretty fun!
Let's hope they come to Providence soon, and that they will be reasonably priced in a few months.

If you have not seen them the animals also have a few diffrent coat colours/markings. Breed a black cow and a black bull and the claves are more likely to be black.
